CANDLE CARE

Tips for keeping your candles healthy

elements-03.png

Lighting Candle for First Use.

When lighting your candle for the first time do not extinguish your candle until the wax has melted across the entire surface of the jar this will create an even burn.

Wick Care.

Keep your wicks to 1/4 inch for a clean healthy burn.

Burn Time.

If you burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time carbon will collect on the wick and your wick will begin to mushroom as such - this can cause the wick to become unstable, the flame to get too large, your candle to smoke and soot to be released into the air and around your candle jar.

Draught.

Move your candle out of a draught as it can cause the candle wax to reach the top of the wick causing the wick not to re light.

Children / Pets.

Always ensure your candle is kept out of reach from children and pets.

Burning Candle.

Never leave a lit candle unattended and ensure you have the candle placed on a stable heat resistant surface.

Extinguishing Your Candle Flame.

We sell wick dippers - the best little invention ever !!
Use it to extinguish your candles without the wick smoking just dip candle wick into liquid wax, lift and re centre the wick - this process of quenching the wick eliminates wick smouldering and primes the wick for the next burn.

Before Relighting Your Candle.

Always clean trim your wick to remove any excess mushrooming from the wick before re lighting for a clean healthy burn.

Moulded
Candles & BEESWAX Candles.

Moulded candles and beeswax candles can drip we recommend burning on a candle plate, candle holder or have something suitable underneath to avoid damages from the hot wax as it melts.  Beeswax candles are best lit in a draught free space this will then ensure an even burn any slight draughts will cause the wax to drip.

To remove any dripped pure soy wax simply run the plate etc under hot water - the same with beeswax sit hot water on the surface or candle holder etc you can simply then pick / peel the wax off.

Always clean / trim your wick to remove any excess mushrooming from the wick before re lighting for a clean healthy burn.
